There are eight months in the calendar used in the Kingkiller Chronicle, according to an appendix in the foreign publications. The appendix of the German edition of The Name of the Wind also tells us that there are four spans in each month.

The names of the months are:

1. Thaw
2. Equis
3. Caitelyn
4. Solace
5. Lannis
6. Reaping
7. Fallow
8. Dearth

In addition, there are seven days of "High Mourning" at the end of each year, making a full year 359 days.
